Circulation Policies

Who May Use the Library:

The library is open to any member of the St. George's community including faculty, staff, students and families. Outside users may only borrow materials through interlibrary loan. For safety reasons the library is not open to outside visitors.

SG Community - Borrowing Materials:
All materials must be checked out at the main desk or through the self-checkout kiosk. Materials should be returned by SG patrons at the main desk bookdrop or in the bookdrop outside the Eccles-side entrance. Patrons who fail to return an item by the designated due date will receive several overdue reminder emails, before finally being charged the full replacement price for an unreturned/damaged item.

Reserve Materials

Must be used in the library during the day. May be checked out overnight after 8:00 PM. Materials must be returned by 9:00 AM the following day. (SG patrons only)

Reference Materials & Periodicals    

Must remain in the library. Some back issues of magazines may be checked out for class use with permission of the library staff. (SG patrons only)

Cords, Chargers, Headphones     

Library Use Only (SG patrons only)

Portable DVD Players   

1 week (SG patrons only)

Renew Materials

Do It Yourself! You may renew the materials you have checked out TWICE for additional time following the instructions below, except when:

  • The material is on hold for another library patron.
  • The material is already overdue.
  • The material is recalled by a library.

Pay Library Fines Online

Pay Library fines over $1 online in 5 easy steps:

1. Go to the library catalog:

2. Click on "View Patron Record"

3. Log-in with your Library Barcode and PIN.

Note: If you have not yet created a PIN you will be prompted to do so.

4. Click on link on left-hand side for fines and bills.

5. Click on the link to “Pay Online” and pay using a debit or credit card through the secure PayPal server.
