Library Staff:
The Nathaniel P. Hill Library serves as a vital center of campus intellectual life. It supports the academic program by providing outstanding services, resources, and facilities for research and study. The library also advances the broader educational mission of the school by awakening interest in a broad range of ideas, by inspiring a love of learning and scholarship, by ensuring that students and faculty are effective users of ideas and information and by providing spaces where all members of the school community can explore multiple curiosities about their world.
Clientele:
The students, faculty & staff, and families of faculty & staff at St. George’s School are our first priority. Trustees, Alumni, and parents of St. George’s students are our second priority. Ocean State Libraries/LORI patrons are our third priority.
Access to services:
First and second priority users may access the library collection, spaces, and services during the hours we are open. The Archives has limited hours, and use of those collections is by appointment only, as scheduled with the archivist.
Due to security concerns on our school campus, the library is not open for third and fourth priority clientele to visit in person.
Third priority clientele may borrow circulating materials through Ocean State Libraries and OLIS/LORI interlibrary loan. Circulating materials are defined as Adult Fiction, YA Fiction, Adult Non-Fiction, Graphic Novels and DVDs. New Books and New DVDS are for local school-campus use only. Due to our status as a school library in which our primary focus is the support of the school’s academic curriculum and the educational needs of our first priority clientele, Reference Books, juvenile materials, Reserve materials, Board Games & Puzzles, Library of Things, and Archives & Special Collections materials are not available for interlibrary loan.
Hill Library complies with the LORI Interlibrary Loan Code.
Circulating materials may be loaned to third and fourth priority clientele under the following criteria:
All members of the Ocean States Libraries Public Library consortium have free access to library materials from all over the state.
To request a book or movie:
NOTE for St. George's School community members: If you cannot find desired materials in the Ocean State Libraries catalog, we can attempt to locate the materials at the college level. Please email library@stgeorges.edu requesting the article or book, including as much information about the item as possible.
Search the library catalog to locate books and movies at St. George's Library and other public libraries in RI. Use the location facet to limit results to only materials available at St. George's Library.
